Hershey, Pennsylvania – Saturday, November 4, Vista Autism Services celebrated its 20+ year history with a lively Roaring 20s Gala at the AACA Museum. The gala raised over $60,000 in support of individuals with autism and their families! Proceeds from the event will be used to expand and strengthen current Vista programs, bridge service gaps, improve facilities, and much more, all benefiting children and adults with autism throughout Central PA.
Gala guests were encouraged to come dressed in 1920s-themed attire and enjoy vintage jazz music by Ben Mauger’s Vintage Jazz Band as they mingled, sipped complimentary drinks, and danced the night away. They also had an opportunity to experience spotlighted vehicles from the AACA Museum’s more than 200-vehicle collection of cars, buses, trucks, and motorcycles in the “A Celebration of 20 Years: Going Back in Time” exhibit.
C&J Catering served up delicious appetizers and an elegant three-course meal. Guests also participated in fun activities throughout the night hosted by our emcee, Melanie Gardner from WARM 103.3 FM. Activities included a wine pull, live auction courtesy of Cordier Auctions, silent auction, and heads & tails game.
During the gala program, Vista awarded Andrew Ward, Vista Adult Services Board Chairman, with the Vista Impact Award. The award honors an individual who exemplifies extraordinary service and dedication to the autism community. Andy was one of the first to volunteer early on in the project that became The Vista School. Without his keen business acumen, sage advice, and love for the task at hand, the newly formed Vista may not have survived, let alone thrived as it has. Andy has also been instrumental in leading the charge to establish adult programming for Vista’s graduating seniors. His selfless dedication to service has enriched the lives of countless individuals on the spectrum and the entire Vista community is fortunate to have his leadership and support.
Vista would like to recognize our amazing sponsors who supported this year’s gala. Silver Sponsors: Gunn Mowery, HB McClure, Highmark, Penn State Health, Keystone Insurers Group, LINKBANK, Reynolds Restoration Services, UPMC and Members First. Bronze Sponsors: Custom Die Services, Delta Dental, EHD Insurance, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts and McNees, Wallace, & Nurick.
