As the vibrant greens of summer bloom, Vista Autism Services continues to grow and flourish, bringing exciting updates and heartwarming stories to our community. Our latest newsletter, Vista Vantage Point Spring 2024, captures the essence of our journey and the incredible milestones we’ve achieved. We invite you to dive into the highlights and be inspired by the remarkable progress and dedication of our staff, students, and supporters.
Welcome New Leaders
We’re thrilled to introduce new members of our leadership team, whose expertise and passion will drive Vista Autism Services forward. Trevor Motley has joined us as Chief Operating Officer, bringing over 20 years of experience in healthcare operations. His strategic insights and commitment to enhancing our services have already made a significant impact.
In addition, Erica Barley, MBA, CMA, is our new Controller. With over 20 years of experience in finance and accounting, Erica’s exceptional skills will strengthen our financial strategy and management, ensuring that we continue to provide top-notch services to our clients.
Celebrating Graduates and Policy Advancements
This spring, we celebrate the graduation of eight outstanding students from The Vista School. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and the unwavering support of our dedicated staff and families. We also rejoice in the recent policy update from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, allowing Approved Private Schools like Vista to serve students up to their 22nd birthday. This extension enables us to support our students more effectively as they transition into adulthood.
Program Highlights and Success Stories
Our Early Intervention program recently celebrated the grand opening of a new playground, thanks to the generous support of the Rothrock Foundation and The Stabler Foundation. This new facility enhances the learning environment for our youngest learners, providing them with a joyful and stimulating space to grow.
In our ABA Services, we welcomed Jennifer Sweeney and Milese Mundi to our team, expanding our ability to support more clients across Cumberland and Dauphin Counties. Our behavior consultants have also begun implementing the Essential for Living assessment and curriculum, further strengthening our evidence-based approaches to client care.
The Vista School: Employment and Transition Successes
The Vista School’s Transition & Employment team has exciting updates, including promotions and new team members who are dedicated to supporting our students’ career development. Success stories abound, such as JTN’s remarkable progress in the SWAP shop and AB’s improvements in efficiency and task completion at the AACA Museum. These achievements highlight the positive impact of our Pre-Employment and Employment Services programs, which prepare students for meaningful, competitive employment.
Community and Collaboration in Vista Adult Services
Our Vista Adult Services team recently gathered for an in-service learning day at the Good Shepherd school in Camp Hill. This event fostered unity, collaboration, and continuous improvement among staff from different locations and programs. Highlights included a Safety Techniques Refresher, interdepartmental collaboration, and a vision for the future shared by our new Executive Director, Brandon Yorty.
Upcoming Events and Opportunities
We invite you to mark your calendars for the 17th Annual Vista Walk for Autism on September 26, 2024, celebrating the diverse strengths within the autism community. Additionally, our annual fundraising gala, “Boots, Bowties, and Bling,” will take place on November 16, 2024, promising an evening of fun and entertainment at the Harvest View Barn in Elizabethtown.
