The Vintage Car Rally Association (VCRA) has generously donated $45,000 to The Vista School in Hershey, Pennsylvania, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting individuals with autism. This substantial gift will be used to enhance opportunities for Vista students both inside the classroom and within the community.
Half of the donation will fund the purchase of a van to transport students to community-based training and paid employment opportunities, helping them gain essential life and job skills. The remaining funds will be used to create quiet, soundproof spaces within classrooms by purchasing room dividers, reducing noise and providing a more calming environment for learning.
Founded in 2006, the VCRA is dedicated to providing antique and vintage car enthusiasts a platform for competition while using the proceeds to support autism organizations, schools, and chapters in need. Rex Gardner, the founder and director of VCRA, explained the personal connection behind the organization’s mission: “My grandson was diagnosed with autism at 29 months, so I understand the challenges families face. We’ve learned the tremendous value of education and skill-building for children with autism.”
Vista Autism Services founder and Chief Strategic Officer Michael Jarman expressed deep gratitude for the VCRA’s contribution. “We couldn’t do this work without the support of organizations like the Vintage Car Rally Association. We are extremely grateful to VCRA for recognizing that students with autism deserve an opportunity to lead meaningful and productive lives.”
Now celebrating its 15th anniversary, The Vista School continues to provide innovative education and support to students with autism. The school serves approximately 100 students from 34 school districts across eight counties and provides outreach services to an additional 130 students. Vista prepares students with autism to lead fulfilling lives by focusing on education, skill-building, and community engagement.
The generous support of organizations like the VCRA enables Vista to expand its impact and continue creating opportunities for students to thrive in all aspects of life.
